"Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands." (Deut. 8:2)

what does that mean?
now that i have lost my flavor i am no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled by men?
Here are the next couple of verses, which might help:
"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."
I'm no Biblical scholar, but I've always taken the verses to mean that we are given certain talents and passions by God. If we don't use those then we are wasting our lives.
